During this term the children in Years 3 Green and Yellow, their classroom teachers Mrs Griffith, Miss Matta, Mrs Biskupovich and I have been working together on a program called “Bounce!”.
Bounce! is a classroom program which teaches students personal skills that underpin resiliency, that is, the capacity to “Bounce” back after encountering problems, difficulties and down times. The students learnt these resiliency skills through both individual and group work.
Bounce is an acronym which stands for:
Bad feelings always go away again
Other people can help to feel better if you talk to them
Unhelpful thinking makes you feel more upset
Nobody is perfect. Mistakes help you learn
Concentrate on the good things and have a laugh
Everybody feels sad and worried sometimes, not just you
The students’ learning culminated in them producing some very creative posters.
