This Friday 26 May is National Sorry Day. This is an important day for our country and one that I hope is never overlooked. Australia's history, good and bad, must be acknowledged, remembered and taught so future generations learn from our past.
This year commemorates the 20th Anniversary of the 'Bringing them home' report, which confirmed the large scale removal of Aboriginal children from their families. It is a hurtful memory for both indigenous and non-indigenous Australians and I truly hope on Friday we stop and remember the mistakes of the past that should never be repeated.
