STEM

STEM is a term used to refer collectively to the learning and teaching of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, in a transdiciplinary way through problem solving around big conceptual ideas.  This enables students to develop solutions to complex problems and provides them with the knowledge, understanding, skills and capabilities that will help them succeed in a world of technological change.
STEM education benefits students by providing them with:
  • A deeper understanding of the STEM disciplines;
  • Skills to be competitive in the workplace;
  • General capabilities such as collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving; and
  • STEM literacy for every day use.
At Guardian Angels, all students from Prep to Year 6 engage in a 40 minute STEM lesson every week with a specialist STEM teacher.
