Christmas Liturgyhttp://www.guardianangelswynnum.qld.edu.au/latest-news/Pages/Christmas-Liturgy.aspxChristmas Liturgy
This year our Christmas Liturgy will be held this Tuesday 20th November at 6.30pm, in the Shed at Mt Carmel Campus. The Liturgy will be led by musician Andrew Chinn. Andrew is a religious songwriter and singer from Sydney. Andrew’s songs, such as “These Hands”, “Together as One”. “Rainbow” and “In the Beginning” are used in classrooms and liturgies around Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

All children will be involved in this celebration and are busy learning songs, actions and other parts to make this a wonderful celebration for our community. All stu-dents will need to wear Christmas clothing for the celebration, please no reindeer antlers. Year 2 students need to wear a white shirt with black pants/shorts/skirt.

The concert will begin at 6.30pm under the Shed, so please arrive slightly earlier to be ready for this start. We hope to see you there, to celebrate Christmas and the wonderful year we have had together in our Guardian Angels’ community.

Remarkable Moments 2018http://www.guardianangelswynnum.qld.edu.au/latest-news/Pages/Remarkable-Moments-2018.aspxRemarkable Moments 2018
We had a visit from Acting Executive Director, Dr. Doug Ashleigh and members of the BCE Learn-ing Directorate. They travelled to our school on the ‘Remarkable Moments’ bus. The students met ‘Captain Remarkable’ for the first time to launch our celebration of the remarkable learning and learners at Guardian Angels. The afternoon was engaging and helped create a positive atmosphere around learning. The culmi-nating event will take place on the 9th November at 2pm where we will share the remarkable learning that takes place in each classroom across all learning areas. We look forward to parents joining us for this cele-bration of learning.

Book Week 2018http://www.guardianangelswynnum.qld.edu.au/latest-news/Pages/Book-Week-2018.aspxBook Week 2018
We certainly found our treasure in the 2018 Book Week, "Find Your Treasure".

What a success! The students of 5 Red kicked off Book Week with a "pirate-y" presen-tation perfectly performed! What talent!

Our visiting author, Tristan Bancks, was a huge hit with the 5s and 6s. Many students have purchased his novel, "Two Wolves" following his presentation.

Brian Doyle, who was a last minute stand-in for Dave Hackett, had riotous fun with the 2s, 3s and 4s. There are definitely some budding cartoonists in that lot.

Dean O'Brien, aka Mr. Yippadee, was outstanding and greatly loved by the Preps and 1s; students and teachers alike.

The Book Character Parade was truly entertaining, led by the fantastic 5Red. A huge "thank you" must be extended to all of the children and parents/carers who obviously put thought and effort into the wonderful costumes. The children were so excited and every year is a testament to how much they love this activity.

The Book Warehouse Book Fair was a great success. Thanks to all who purchased something from the fair. Total sales amounted to $4557.00 of which our commission was $1221.00 (cash and books). This will go to buying new books/resources for the library to which all students will have access.

Thank you to all for your support and assistance with this wonderful week of cele-brating books and reading.

Carolyn Matta—Teacher Librarian

South East Queensland Football Finalshttp://www.guardianangelswynnum.qld.edu.au/latest-news/Pages/South-East-Queensland-Football-Finals.aspxSouth East Queensland Football Finals
Our Senior Girls' Soccer Team participated in the South East Queensland Football Finals after qualify-ing by winning the Met East Title. This competition brings together the top six teams in an area from the NSW border, up to Hervey Bay and out to Toowoomba. In an exceptional effort, our girls made it through to the final and went on to win the competition, making them the best Primary School team in South East Queensland.

Our first game was against Warrigal State School and involved an early start out near Ipswich at the Western Pride Football Club. We played extremely well in this game and secured a 2 – 1 victory.

After a short break, we backed up for our second game against Saint Vincent's Primary School from the South Coast region. This game proved to be a little tougher. We had several chances that just missed or were well saved by their goal keeper and came away from this game with a 1 – 1 draw. This meant that we had to wait for the results of another game to see if we won our pool and made it through to the final. Things went our way and we were lucky enough to make it through to the final.

The final proved to be an extremely close game, where we played Ferny Grove State School from Metro North district. We had several chances but again just missed or had our shots on goal saved. They had a couple of highly skilled players and they combined together to break away and score the first goal against us. Just before half time, we were able to score a long range goal to even up the score. Following a close second half, the game went to extra time. This involved a golden goal rule, where the first goal would win the game. From the kick off we ran through and had a shot that just went outside the post. Over the next couple of minutes, our team dominated the game until a beautiful shot went sailing past their goal keeper to give us the win.

The girls played with courage, respect and determination and are to be congratulated for their outstanding achievement and the manner in which they conducted themselves throughout the entire season. As a school, we are extremely proud of all that they have achieved and hope to see some of them staring on a bigger stage in the years to come.

South East Queensland Finals

Top 6 sides from Border to Hervey Bay and out to Toowoomba.

First Game against Warrigal Road State School.
